This lace is made by water soluble (chemical) embroidery: the design is stitched onto a temporary backing that is then dissolved away, leaving a free-standing guipure lace with no base fabric.

The result is a lace with real body and a refined openwork surface. Small flowers sit inside a lattice of open cutwork, letting the lining color show through.

Open Floral Cutwork

Five-petal flowers are outlined in raised stitching and surrounded by open spaces, creating a light, airy lace.

Oval Floral Medallions

Oval frames enclose small blossoms in parts of the design, adding variety and movement to the pattern.
